Towards the end of last year, some forty speakers, moderators and technicians convened at the Kursaal Bern Arena for the 5th Swiss Implant Congress. They provided the ‘base camp’ for the two-day conference and continuing education session for some 700 dentists from Switzerland and the German-speaking countries who joined the conference online. With the help of the web-based conference platform, the forty or so people at the Kursaal broadcast all the content virtually to the participants, for whom the event itself was also recorded and made available for a fee-based download for three months. The Kursaal also recently equipped itself with a professional streaming studio for unique productions.

Staging the two-day autumn seminar of the Berne section of Treuhand Suisse was certainly a novel challenge for the speakers and on-site participants in autumn 2020. However, with the help of the team at the Congress Centre Kursaal Interlaken, the organisers knew they had competent partners at their side who, in addition to high-quality sound and image technology, were also able to come up with an offer of generous premises. As a result, the 100 or so participants on site had plenty of space to themselves and the 150 virtual guests were offered a wide range of interactive exchange opportunities, including live chats.

The information evening organised by the William Tell Open-air Theatre for its new production and for the casting call took place not in the Theatre’s authentic surroundings but at the Carlton Europe Vintage Hotel in Interlaken and on computers at home. Information on the next season of performances and the roles to be cast was provided to virtual visitors logging in to the event via high-tech live stream. Experience has shown that hybrid formats can also be advantageous. Regardless of current restrictions, such events are able to achieve a far greater reach and more subscriptions. People can take part more easily, regardless of their location, and save themselves the travelling time.
