Fête de la Tête de Moine in Bellelay (BE)

1 – 3 May 2026

The Fête de la Tête de Moine in Bellelay, in the Bernese Jura, is a popular family festival celebrating the famous Swiss cheese Tête de Moine AOP, with regional specialties, market stalls, music and activities for children.

Bellelay, a village in the Bernese Jura, celebrates one of Switzerland’s great culinary treasures: Tête de Moine AOP cheese. Families explore local specialties at the cheese and regional market, while food stalls centred around the famous cheese invite them to taste, linger and enjoy the atmosphere. Contests and live demonstrations showcase the creativity and traditional craftsmanship behind Tête de Moine. Later in the day, shared meals, giant fondues and musical entertainment create a warm and festive atmosphere for the whole family.

On Sunday, the market continues with a varied programme of activities, as children’s entertainment, performances and agricultural demonstrations bring the Grand Chasseral region to life. Children can meet farm animals up close, discover how Tête de Moine AOP is traditionally made and take part in fun, educational activities. Exhibitions, workshops and musical performances complete the programme, making it a lively day out for the whole family, with something to enjoy at every age.
