Heli-skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping and paragliding: Interlaken, with its wide range of thrilling activities, is not only the ideal destination for extreme athletes, but it also caters for families.

Between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, at the foot of the Schynige Platte, Harder, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is Interlaken, a holiday destination offering numerous activities which has become a meeting point for sports fans, connoisseurs and families alike. Water enthusiasts can get active with canyoning, white water rafting, winter kayaking or a trip on the jet boat. If you prefer to take your adventure to lofty heights, you have the choice between paragliding, skydiving, bungee jumping or heli-skiing. Another more motorised way of exploring Interlaken is either by scooter, fun-car or quad bike.

The mountains are calling

Interlaken’s local mountain, the Harder Kulm, offers its visitors breathtaking views. At the “Two-Lakes-Bridge”, located at 1322 m above sea level, visitors are enthralled by the panoramic views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as Lake Thun and Brienz. Both in winter and summer, Interlaken is a paradise for hikers. Visitors with good eyesight might even spot ibexes, chamoises, groundhogs and golden eagles on the Niederhorn and the Schynige Platte. An adventure not to be missed is a trip with Switzerland’s only steam rack railway which will take you to the top of the Brienzer Rothorn. Mystical adventures can be found in the “St. Beatus” caves at Lake Thun. Take an underground journey and discover giant stalactites and stalagmites, enormous halls and deep ravines.

Harder Kulm

Interlaken’s local mountain is located at 1,322 m. The short journey to the Harder Kulm only takes 10 minutes – which leaves more time to enjoy the views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Schynige Platte

It takes around one hour from Wilderswil to the Schynige Platte with the historic Schynige Platte railway. Once on top, you simply can’t get enough of the wonderful views.

The Schynige Platte offers inspiring panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The secret star is the Botanical Alpine Garden, which contains more than 720 Swiss alpine plants just waiting to be admired. Paul Brunner and the team at the Alpine Garden care for the plants with great devotion – and are happy to answer the questions of curious visitors.

Eye to eye with an ibex

The group peers intently through their binoculars at the rugged rock wall of the Niederhorn ridge. All they want to see are ibex and chamois – as many as possible and as close as possible!
