Spiez

Spiez

Impressive vistas in all directions: nestled between mountain peaks, vineyards and a lake with beautiful bays, Spiez excites with a mild climate and many sunny days.

Like a gem, Spiez sparkles in the sun at the shore of Lake Thun. Declared a spa town in 1856, Spiez Castle is for many visitors the first stop on their discovery tour round town. Locations of bygone centuries, the park and the early Romanesque Castle Church act as witnesses of the town’s rich history. One of Spiez’s landmarks is the little blue train on wheels which carries visitors round town. Spiez has certainly earned its reputation as a source for recharging energy: hiking trails surrounded by ancient yew trees, the Katzenstein (Cat’s Rock) and the numerous churches and peaks are just some of the sources to boost your energy.

Spiez, the gateway to the surrounding area

Spiez is the ideal starting point to explore the sights in the surrounding area. Both the pyramid-shaped Niesen or a boat trip on Lake Thun are only a stone’s throw away. In winter, the region’s most popular ski areas can be reached within an hour of the town. And when the weather is fine, the circular hike guides visitors for 14 km along the beach to the village of Faulensee.
