Spiez is the ideal starting point to explore the sights in the surrounding area. Both the pyramid-shaped Niesen or a boat trip on Lake Thun are only a stone’s throw away. In winter, the region’s most popular ski areas can be reached within an hour of the town. And when the weather is fine, the circular hike guides visitors for 14 km along the beach to the village of Faulensee.

Spiez’s heart and soul is the emerald bay at Lake Thun where, every summer, the Seaside Festival and the international beach soccer tournament excite music and sports fans. Thanks to the many activities on offer, the bay attracts young and old alike. The playground and climbing tower offer hours of fun for the little ones, while the not-so-little ones can challenge each other at a game of outdoor chess. The bay also invites visitors to relax at the “Buchtrondell”, or to soak in the atmosphere of the Rogglischeune, a former barn which now serves as a smaller event venue, available for hire.
