The Niesen Stair Run is one of Switzerland’s most impressive sporting events. Once a year, the longest staircase in the world is transformed into a spectacular extreme running course. A total of 11,674 steps lead from the foot of the mountain up to the 2,362 metre high summit of the Niesen.
The event attracts ambitious runners, mountain sports enthusiasts and participants from around the world. The course follows the route of the legendary Niesen funicular railway and demands everything from the competitors, from Mülenen all the way to the Niesen summit: endurance, mental strength and determination. Their reward is a breathtaking view of the Bernese Oberland and an unparalleled sense of achievement.
