As a founding member of the city of Bern's "Klimaplattform" (environmental forum), the Kursaal Bern leads the way on sustainability issues. It has actively been campaigning for a reduction in CO2 emissions since 2006 and is also taking decisive steps to reduce food waste. Situated on a slight rise above Bern's Old Town, rooms of various sizes are suitable for any kind of event. With its commitment to the Swiss climate initiative "myclimate – Cause We Care", Kursaal Bern is making a significant contribution to a climate protection programme and is reducing it's own emissions wherever possible. As part of it's drive, the centre offers plastic-free hotel rooms. It also aims to make the most of in-house resources. For example, honey from the hotel’s own bees on the roof is served for breakfast.
The Hotel Seaside in the beautiful lake bay of Spiez produces its own green energy with a photovoltaic system installed across seven of the hotel's roofs. Inside, water-saving Joulia shower heads provide smart heat recovery, while the hotel's own butchery supplies all meat products, thereby ensuring efficiency and short delivery channels. All meeting and conference rooms are equipped to host hybrid seminars. You prefer face-to-face exchanges and shared experiences? The hotel also arranges expertly organised activities that provide inspiration and a change of scene.
Situated at more than 2300 metres above sea, the historic mountain lodge with glass pavilion can be reached via a delightful 30-minute ride in the funicular, which runs exclusively on Swiss hydro power. The Blüemlisalp conference room and the two additional meeting rooms can be set up in different ways and offer panoramic views and state-of-the-art infrastructure as standard. All unavoidable food waste is processed at the Frutigland biogas plant and turned into fuel. This in turn powers the lorry of the laundry service partner, which means the laundry delivery is close to carbon-neutral.
Located near the cable cars and the station, the Golfhotel offers a bright and airy plenary hall and five adaptable meeting rooms, while the upstairs rooms are tastefully furnished in Alpine chic. The nearby Bergmatte reservoir supplies the complex with highly palatable drinking water and by joining the "Food Save Berner Oberland" programme, the hotel's catering is taking positive steps to reduce food waste and recycle where possible. All the hotel’s laundry is washed at a central laundry facility in Saanen, to avoid the environmental impact that longer journeys further afield would have. This climate-friendly collaboration with other hotels in the surrounding area has in fact been in existence since 1968 – it's the only hotel laundry facility in Switzerland that is operated by the hotels themselves.
BERNEXPO is known across Switzerland for hosting BEA, the nations largest consumer trade fair, as well as many other fairs. From spring 2025, the "Neue Festhalle" will complement the existing infrastructure. The new building will offer space for large-scale events with up to 9000 attendees. Designed with sustainability in mind, the events hall will draw its power from an on-site photovoltaic plant and aims to set new standards in energy efficiency. Having achieved ISO-20121 certification for event sustainability, BERNEXPO has already taken comprehensive steps towards sustainable practices. All rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and thanks to the fixed per-person rate, the standard infrastructure is already included.
