The most beautiful playgrounds in the Bernese Oberland

The 700-square-metre Bort alpine playground is located at the first intermediate station Bort of the First cable car, between Grindelwald and First. Children can look forward to an adventurous experience with exciting play equipment such as climbing frames, swings and a slide surrounded by alpine nature. Particularly impressive is the panorama with views of the north face of the Eiger and the surrounding peaks.

The alpine herdsman's playground on the Männlichen can be easily reached by the Grindelwald–Männlichen gondola or the Wengen–Männlichen aerial cableway. The centrepiece of the playground is the large cow made of wood and steel, which features an observation platform, a slide and other play options inside. The theme of alpine farming shapes the entire playground and playfully introduces children to the life of alpine herdsmen. 

The Bidmi dwarf playground is located at the intermediate station of the Meiringen–Hasliberg cable car, between Hasliberg Reuti and Mägisalp. Inspired by the Hasli dwarfs, it features wooden huts, climbing towers and slides. It is a perfect family outing where children can playfully explore the fantasy world of the dwarfs.

The adventure playground Flower Park is located above Mürren and can be reached by funicular railway to the Allmendhubel. On the vast play meadow, families experience alpine flora and fauna up close. Children can explore a marmot burrow, fly with butterflies, milk cows, or learn about cheese-making – an unforgettable experience in the mountains.

The playground on the Niederhorn right next to the Berghaus Niederhorn makes every family outing perfect. The balance trail, wobble bridge and the large wooden marble run promise adventure and exercise. Barbecue areas, an alpine orienteering course and trotti-bikes round off the experience. While the children are absorbed in play, the adults can take a breather and enjoy the view over Lake Thun. 

Switzerland’s most beautiful panorama almost fades into the background when children are busy playing on the slide, nest swing and balancing trail. At the same time, adults can relax while gazing over Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. This makes an excursion to Harder Kulm the perfect family outing. Please note: The playground is open from April until the end of November, in line with the operating hours of the Harder Railway.

The lovingly crafted wooden Niesendörfli playground brings the story of the Niesen Fox and the Magic Millstone to life on the summit of the Niesen, the Swiss Pyramid, high above the picturesque Lake Thun. A special highlight is the story ride with the fox cubs Fay and Finn. Children can dive into this imaginative world of stories, while adults find peace in the impressive mountain and lake panorama. Please note: The playground is closed from mid-November until the end of April, in line with the operating hours of the Niesen Railway.

The Alpine playground on the Schynige Platte, located right next to the Mountain Hotel Schynige Platte, is a true highlight for families. Accompanied by the mascot cow Lily, children discover carved wooden figures, test their skills on balancing trails, enjoy the slide or spin happily on the carousel. Meanwhile, parents can lean back and soak up the vast alpine scenery.

The Alpenruhe Experience World in Saanen delights visitors in any weather with a large playground featuring a pirate ship, jumping pillow, children's train and water area. A particular favourite is the petting zoo with dwarf goats. The blooming adventure garden and the cosy café invite you to relax. In addition, a barbecue area and a shop with handmade products round off the family outing.

The playground at mountain house Wispile offers plenty of variety: slides, a climbing park, swings and water play areas. A petting zoo with an adventure stable makes the visit especially exciting. The facilities are built with natural materials such as wood and stone, blending harmoniously into the surroundings. Please note: the playground is closed in winter.

The play and climbing area in Schönried was completely rebuilt in summer 2023 and has since become a popular excursion destination for families. Located directly on the panoramic trail to Saanenmöser, it offers children everything they love: a climbing element with mini slide, a nest swing and toddler swing, a zip line, a net hammock, a seesaw and log cabin, and of course, a sculpture of the famous goat mascot Saani. In addition, ToiToi toilets and table-bench combinations are available.

Saani's tower playground in Gstaad was newly built in summer 2024 and offers children of all ages a safe and varied play environment. The main attractions include the climbing tower with slide, sandpit, several swings with a nest swing and a small playhouse. Meanwhile, parents can relax on comfortable seating areas. Thanks to its location next to the Obergstaad car park, access is easy and convenient.

On the Rinderberg, meet Saani’s friend Olga the cow. Children can discover everything about the cowshed and cattle here: discover how to milk cows, play at the egg marble run or try out the cowbells. This indoor experience is perfect in any weather and can be ideally combined with a hike along the Alpine Magic Trail. Please note: the playground is closed in winter.

The playground at the Gstaad Sports Centre offers a wide variety of play opportunities: swings, seesaws, climbing tower, other climbing elements and huts with toys. A special highlight is the climbing double bass – a large double bass to climb on, inspired by the Saani Sound Trail, which is just a few steps away from the playground.

The Saanenmöser railway station playground is located right next to the station in the picturesque village centre and is a paradise for children: spinning tower, slides, swings, hammock swing, climbing towers with slides, zip line, slackline, trampoline, basketball wall, volleyball net, table tennis table, spring rocker ship, Saani spring rocker and a large sandpit. Parents can relax on benches or at the table-bench combination while watching their children play.

The playground in the heart of Zweisimmen is a paradise for little adventurers: swings, seesaw, zip line, a dragon element with a small slide, a large slide, various climbing elements and water play areas encourage movement, motor skills and playful exploration. Parents can relax on comfortable seating while the children let off steam.

The AlpKultur® playground Lenkerseeli is located right by the idyllic Lenkerseeli and covers around 7,000 square metres. Entirely dedicated to alpine life, it features an alpine hut, many play structures made of natural materials and the miniature railway "Strubeli Bähnli". After a walk along the lakeside, the fire pits in the park invite you to enjoy a picnic or grill a cervelat sausage.

The Frutigresort Adventure Park in Frutigen offers fun for the whole family. A highlight is the marmot playground with over 100 metres of cave tunnels and five mysterious play rooms. Right next to it, a climbing tower awaits those with a head for heights. In addition, there is a mini golf course, garden railway, pump track, bouldering wall and bouncy castle.

The Tschentenalp playground above Adelboden features a long slide, climbing opportunities and plenty of space to play. Parents can enjoy the view and homemade specialities on the sun terrace of the mountain restaurant. Even the journey on the red, blue and yellow gondolas is an experience in itself.

The Oeschiwald playground in Kandersteg is ideal for a family afternoon. A trampoline, zip line and castle invite children to romp, climb and explore. At the beautiful barbecue area, you can also enjoy a cosy picnic or grill together.
