Autumn with its mild temperatures and blaze of golden colours is the perfect time of year to explore the Gasterntal valley. This high-alpine valley is the starting point for lots of hiking tours, for instance to the Gasterespitz and Lötschen Pass. Less elevated, but no less spectacular is the approx. three-hour hike from the Berghotel Waldhaus to Selden, which follows the Kander and takes you along mountain pastures and cosy resting places.

Would you like to go on a culinary hike with your loved ones? On 28 September 2024 you can discover the Lohner village of Adelboden on a three-hour hike and eat to your heart’s content. The trail leads at a leisurely pace from the village to Tschentenalp. An aperitif, main course and dessert await you at various cosy locations. Local guides and hosts will show you all the facets of Adelboden’s cuisine. Sommelier Thomas Hari will provide the perfect wine pairing along the way. The day ends on the Tschentenalp, where a DJ is waiting for you.

Culinary hike in Adelboden

Late in autumn – when the days grow cooler and the nights draw in – the hosts of Destination Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg switch off the electric lights. Across the holiday region, hotels and restaurants are once again launching the “Candle Light Magic” initiative. Now in its second year, the initiative will run from 2 November 2023 through to the end of January 2024. Every Thursday evening, participating restaurants will use only candles to provide illumination – all electric lights will remain off during these evenings.

A lovingly restored and converted original Circus Knie caravan offers visitors authentic romance in a stylish setting – combined with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain panorama. Kandersteg’s many areas of outstanding natural beauty, such as Allmenalp, Sunnbüel and the clear waters of Oeschinensee are only a short hop away.
