Engstligen Falls

Numerous mountain streams of the Engstligenalp join together to form the Engstligen Falls. These drop around 600 metres in height in 2 stages and offer a wonderful natural spectacle.

On a mule path along the rock face, visitors experience the Engstligen Falls up close; these are among the highest volume waterfalls in the Alps. Once you have arrived at the top, this high plateau is the ideal starting point for excursions. As an alternative, one can negotiate the ascent via the via ferrata, which is scaled by ice climbers in winter. As the Engstligen Falls gather their strength on the alp, the area itself has also made a name for itself as a power place: thanks to high air humidity, lots of mountain streams, and the waterfalls.

Pack your walking boots

The beauties of nature are best explored on foot. On the Seeli Trail, for example, visitors walk to the Dossen-Seeli, where they can see the impressive floodplain of the Wildstrubel. From Adelboden or Unter dem Birg, visitors take a detour to the Lohner and Bütschi Falls. The bottom circular waterfall trail offers a special experience. The stroll through the forest follows the Engstlige and promises plenty of peace and relaxation.

Eyes open and up you go

In keeping with the power of the Engstligen Falls, the surrounding area is also a popular place for freeriders during the winter months. Because fresh air is known to make one hungry, the Fondue-Iglu on the alp and the Restaurant Bergbach entice visitors with culinary delights. In summer, the Engstligenalp and the waterfalls have a surprising genuine highlight in store: 350 cattle and cows process onto the alp through the rock face at the waterfall.
