Wengen

Wengen

In winter Wengen is buzzing. The picturesque village boasts perfectly groomed slopes, the longest downhill course of the Ski World Cup and a varied programme.

It is nearly impossible to miss Wengen – given that it is only accessible by the Wengernalp Railway. At the foot of the Jungfrau and high above the Lauterbrunnen valley, the village gets its character from the rustic wooden houses, holiday chalets and hotels inspired by the Belle Époque. The surroundings with 500 km of hiking trails keep your legs busy and spoil your eyes with untouched nature. The highlight of the season: the Jungfrau Marathon from Interlaken via Wengen to the Eiger north face. A height difference of nearly 2000 m in front of a spectacular backdrop awaits the participants.

An endearing connection

Wengen is well known throughout Europe. As a result of the first showdown with the Kandahar Ski Club, which was founded in Mürren, British skiers formed the Downhill Only Ski Club in Wengen. Ever since, the members of this club have their winter base in Wengen and return every year contributing to the life of the village. Some names of the ski slopes go back to the club’s creativity, such as “Black Rock” or “Oh God Run”. Names which immediately inspire people to set off down the slopes themselves.
